PORTAGE COUNTY RETIRED TEACHERS ASSOCIATION CLASSROOM TEACHER GRANT
Portage County Retired Teachers Association (PCRTA) provides $500 grants to active teachers to support innovative activities in their classrooms or for school-wide activities. This grant program is open to all academic disciplines, grade levels, or building activities. All educators are encouraged to submit applications. The grant money must not replace funds already allocated through the school or from other sources.
Grant applications are available in each building principal’s office or on the PCRTA website (pcrta.net). You may use additional sheets of paper or prepare the application on a computer. The deadline for applications is Friday, October 27, 2023. Awards will be granted in January. Recipients may use the grants at times of their discretion to conduct projects, activities or programs which best fit the academic and curricular year. Each grant must be completed within six months.
Educators must adhere to the following procedures that will govern the awarding of grants:
Grants are limited to public schools in Portage County.
Applicants should plan closely with the building principal and other teachers or individuals having an interest in the application. Joint applications are encouraged.
Administrator’s and participating teachers’ signatures and approval are required.
A committee of PCRTA members will evaluate all applications. All decisions are final.
Applications will be evaluated for clearly stated goals; a narrative of how this project is innovative; how outcomes are clearly stated and measurable; budget is complete and reasonable; and application is complete, thorough and timely.
Unfunded applications may remain active for consideration the next year.
Payment for the grant will be through the district treasurer’s office who will make an accounting to PCRTA. Applicants should check with the school treasurer to meet school district requirements. Unused funds will be returned to PCRTA.
No funds may be used as personal salary, spends, or gifts.
Grant winners are required to submit a final report to PCRTA detailing how the funds were administered.
